The dates should be confirmed: the Alpine Ski World Championship will be held from the 7th to the 21st of February 2021. The queen of the Dolomites will host once again this important international sporting event, as it happened in 1932 (the year of the second edition of the ski world championship) and in 1941. More than 600 athletes coming from 70 countries will test themselves in 13 competitions, an enthusiastic celebration of sport which, no matter all the cautions imposed by the covid-19 epidemic, is shaping up to be a great moment of sharing and open air entertainment, to enjoy amongst the landscape wonders of the Ampezzo valley and the refined commodities offered by our hotel.
Starting from the strategic position of Hotel Ambra, right before the pedestrian area and the shops in Corso Italia, and stone's throw away from the ski slopes of Cortina.

Cortina and the ski slopes
The Alpine ski world championship of February 2021 in Cortina is the most important event in our Country calendar in the next years, and Cortina is preparing a welcoming worthy of the occasion. Starting with the tracks where the races will take place, some are the most famous of Cortina:
- Olympia delle Tofane, a black and red slope more than 2.8 km long and a gradient around 65%
- The new slope Vertigine, inaugurated in 2019, starts above Pomedes (2.373 masl) and develops for more than 2.5 km with a gradient just below the one of Olympia.
- Track A of the legendary Pista del Col Drusciè, already an arena in the 1956 Winter Olympics will now see the race of female and male slalom athletes.
- Labirint slope, another black slope famous for its long a steep wall
- Rumerlo slope, an incline with its 350 meters length is destined to host alpine combine slalom, parallels slalom and team events.
Hotel Ambra: between the slopes and the strolling
Obtained from an ancient valley of Ampezzo, our boutique hotel is a vital part of the original nucleus of Cortina, made of small squares, roads and alleys where churches, museums and art galleries are concentrated along with many prestigious boutiques which make the Queen of the Dolomites a shopping capital.

Corso Italia, the most prestigious amongst the fashion routes in Cortina, less than 100 meters away from Hotel Ambra. The cable car “Faloria”, the historic access for the slopes of Cortina, even closer than Corso Italia, so much so our clients chose to go on the slopes by foot with their skis on their shoulders.
The Faloria - Cristallo ski area with almost 30 km of slopes, including Stratondi, the black slope Canalone Franchetti and Vitelli, famous for hosting the giant slalom during the winter olympics in Cortina of 1956
